About Shramshree Scheme
The State Government of West Bengal, along with the Chief Minister Ms Mamta Banerjee, has launched this impactful rehabilitation initiative known as the Shramshree Scheme in August 2025, aiming to provide financial support to all the migrant workers who have faced discrimination and harassment for being Bengali while working in another state. Under this scheme, the Government aims to provide financial help of INR 5,000 as the transportation fare for returning to West Bengal, and this financial help will be provided monthly to all the migrant workers until they get employed. The Financial assistance will be provided for 1 year after workers start to receive the financial benefits and it will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Process.
